A Blade Forged by Hand, Not by a Boardroom.

600 Years
of Knowledge in Every Cut You Make.

In the heart of Japan, where the ancient art of sword-making still echoes in the hills, Matoshi Hitogawa continues a legacy six generations in the making. He doesn’t lead a company; he commands a forge. He doesn’t count units; he perfects blades, one at a time.

For him, each knife is ‘tamashii no yaiba’ — a blade with a soul. It’s a lifetime of discipline, fire, and steel, culminating in a single, perfectly balanced tool that’s waiting to tell its next story. Yours

Why This Blade Feels Like a Part of Your Hand.

See the Soul Forged in Steel.

A Tegami knife is not assembled; it is born. Each element is a deliberate choice, a testament to a philosophy where performance and artistry are inseparable. This is where centuries of tradition meet the cutting edge of metallurgy.

The Soul of Steel
The Soul of Steel

The 67-Layer Damascus Soul.

This is no mere pattern; it's the blade's history,
folded and forged 67 times. This process
creates microscopic serrations for an edge that seems to last forever, and ensures that your knife’s fingerprint is as unique as your own.

The Soul of Steel
The Edge of Reason

A 15-Degree Surgical Edge.

While Western knives are often ground to a clumsy 25 degrees, your Tegami blade is
honed to a ruthlessly efficient 15-degree
angle. It doesn’t crush or tear. It glides through food with surgical precision, preserving the integrity and flavor of your ingredients.

The Center of Command
The Soul of Steel The Soul of Steel

Pick it up. The knife doesn't pull forward or lean back. It rests weightlessly in your hand, centered exactly where your grip lies. This isn’t just for comfort; it’s for control. It makes hours of prep work feel like minutes of creative flow.

The Point of Perfect Balance.

The Stories Our First Blades Are Already Telling.

We created Tegami for those who refuse to settle. For artists, explorers, and hosts who believe the tools we use should be as inspiring as the things we create. Here’s what they found.

Michael D., Verified Buyer

"I've owned German knives, other 'Japanese' knives... forget them. The sharpness out of the box is almost comical. It doesn't cut a tomato, it simply passes through it. The balance is insane. This isn't just a tool, it's a partner on the cutting board. It single-handedly brought the joy back to my prep work."

Jessica L., Verified Buyer

"Let's be honest, I bought it half for the looks. The Damascus pattern is mesmerizing. But then I used it. My husband was speechless. My guests were asking where I got it. It's a functional piece of art that elevates my entire kitchen. Worth every penny for the 'wow' factor alone."

Emily R., Verified Buyer

"I spent weeks looking for the perfect anniversary gift for my father, who loves to cook. Giving him the Tegami set... his reaction was everything. The box, the weight of the knife, the story behind it. It wasn't just a gift, it was a moment. He said it was the best gift he's ever received. You're not just buying a knife, you're buying that moment."

Your Questions, Answered with Clarity.

Transparency is a sharp tool. Here are the answers to the questions we hear most often from aspiring creators.

How do I care for my Tegami knife? Is it dishwasher safe?

Treat your Tegami blade like the masterpiece it is. It is NOT dishwasher safe. The harsh detergents and high heat will damage the steel and the handle. The proper way is a simple ritual: wash by hand with mild soap and warm water immediately after use, and dry it completely with a soft cloth. This isn't a chore; it's a moment of respect for a tool that will serve you for a lifetime.

Is this real Damascus steel, or just a laser-etched pattern?

An excellent and important question. This is 100% genuine, forge-welded Damascus steel. Each blade is made from 67 layers of high-carbon steel, folded and forged to create the signature watery pattern. This isn't just for beauty—the process creates microscopic serrations on the edge, contributing to its legendary sharpness and edge retention. What you see is the blade's true history, not a cosmetic pattern.

What is your return policy and warranty?

Simple. We have a 30-day, no-questions-asked, full money-back guarantee. If you don't feel it's the best knife you've ever used, we don't deserve your money. Beyond that, every blade comes with a Lifetime Warranty against any manufacturing or material defects. This is our promise.

Where do the knives ship from?

While the soul of each knife is born in Matoshi Hitogawa's forge in Japan, your order will ship directly from our dedicated warehouse in the United States. This ensures fast, reliable delivery, typically within 3-5 business days.
